Side Road Collection

WORKS ON PAPER

A quiet countryside in the wintertime (not only in Canada) reveals secrets of Nature that are otherwise hidden and almost impossible to admire. It is a reflection on natural beauty and the “slow life”. One believes that during winter Nature is asleep... but not really.

When we enter a world of shimmering snow, a forest blanketed with white hats and coats, we enjoy each other’s company and disconnect from everyday life. We feel at peace. Technology is postponed for later. “Now” is important and relevant. We walk slowly, and mindfully. The inviting frozen lake offers kilometres of ice to explore, prompts us to practice silence, or lets us ask God for guidance. Sometimes, it suggests giving way to a wild turkey crossing the path. It moves tree branches to the rhythm of the gentle wind, blowing crisp air and filling our lungs with joy.

All these things can happen when we pay attention, and connect deeply with Nature in intimate quiet moments by walking. Focusing on the moment, feeding our eyes with the light in the sky or reflecting upon a static stream, frozen between the tender embrace of two boulders. The scent of the air is refreshing, full of positive vibes and uplifting to the spirit.

If you want to recall an experience of joy and connection, like a short trip to the local ravine or a favourite hike in the cottage country, just close your eyes, imagine the scent of the fresh air and the positive energy embedded in it. This is what the Side Road collection aims to capture.
